“I’m having issues with anxiety, or depression, or in this relationship. Most therapists don’t seem to understand it. I need therapy that is responsive to my specific situation and family. Family and friends don’t seem to understand my situation. Life is just not going as smoothly as I need it to, because my situation is not ‘mainstream’. “
Do you feel like you need guidance to help you get through depression, anger, doubt, or anxiety?
Do you deal with self-esteem, relationship, sexual issues, or a feeling of isolation stemming from feeling separated from larger society?
Are you wondering if this feeling or situation you have found yourself in is “normal”?
If you can relate to these questions, I can help.
AMANDA WALKER, LCSW
I work with individuals, and couples who are experiencing relationship issues, sexual issues, or issues arising from special sexual populations, alternative identities, and teen related issues.
My clients know they can expect an open and accepting atmosphere, as well as a non-judgmental approach. We work together to insure each person has a clear goal, and room to work on that goal effectively.
Due to the diversity that sits with me each week, I have a broad and compassionate approach. And also a willingness to adjust as needed or even learn or try different approaches to help every person reach their goals.
We will manage social anxiety, alleviate depression, and learn anger and stress management together. I also treat unhelpful coping mechanisms, such as video game and internet addiction. In doing so, our goal will be to help reduce anxiety and mind-chatter to give you more peace and smoother relationships.
Amanda primarily uses the Strengths Based approach in therapy; starting with validating where each person is in their life’s journey, and then helping them reach their goals through self-acceptance and using their unique strengths grow in the direction they desire for their life.
